I started out watching this video with a healthy dose of suspicion, but now I am feeling a tinge of alarm. I had never heard of endocrine disruptors before, but apparently, it is something that deserves a little bit more attention. I wish that the video had focused a little bit more on the effects that these chemicals have on the body, because I would like to know more about the ways that they are feminizing males. I had a bit of a twisted thought to use as an argument regarding whether or not homosexuality was inborn. The thought was that, for all the people who think that homosexuality is some type of internal wiring gone awry; perhaps they could fund the money to research the extent that ED’s play in messing with natural biological processes. But alas, that would do them no good, because then they would have to admit that crude oil and natural gas are releasing chemicals that turn people gay. Ouch. I don’t think you could fly after the damage that would be caused to that right wing. If these chemicals are so potent that they are causing birds to be born with both sex organs, it’s causing a level of cognitive dissonance in my head that I’m still trying to shake out. I like the doc’s comment on inner space in reference to the womb, “We know more about outer space than we do about inner space.” It’s especially funny, because I’ll immerse myself in physics and theory all day, while I’m smoking a cigarette and cramming junk food down my throat… so much for the preservation of my inner space.
